Dental implants offer an excellent solution for replacing missing teeth without requiring the shaving of adjacent teeth, as was necessary for traditional dental bridges before implants were developed. Implants can also help support your denture and give it more stability.
Dental implants are made out of high grade titanium, which is naturally biocompatible with our jaw bones. The teeth attached to implants are made of high quality ceramics and look almost identical to a natural tooth.
Dental implants are strong and durable and will last many years. On occasion, they will have to be re-tightened or replaced due to normal wear.
Reasons for dental implants:
-
Replace one or more missing teeth without affecting adjacent teeth.
-
Resolve joint pain or bite problems caused by teeth shifting into missing tooth space.
-
Restore a patient’s confident smile.
-
Restore chewing, speech, and digestion.
-
Restore or enhance facial tissues.
-
Support a bridge or denture, making it more secure and comfortable.
What does getting dental implants involve?
Our doctor will do a thorough exam and create a surgical treatment plan custom-made for your situation. While the area is numb, the implant will be surgically placed into the bone and allowed to heal and integrate itself for about 4 months in a healthy patient. After the healing period, we will attach the crown to the implant itself to effectively replace your missing tooth.
You will receive care instructions when your treatment is completed. Good oral hygiene and eating habits, alongside regular dental visits, will aid in the life of your new implant.
